We asked our Radiologic Science graduates how the program changed their lives, and here’s what they said!

amanda“The two years I spent in the Radiologic Science program were by far the most engaging, exciting, and eye-opening years of my whole educational experience. I felt like I was finally learning skills that I could use to help people and was encouraged to work hard to master the art of x-ray.  I got to meet really great people in the program, many of whom are now some of my closest friends.  Now that I have graduated, being an x-ray technologist has allowed me to do the things I’ve always dreamed of when I was younger, like travel the world and be able to give back to my family for taking care of me.  I have been asked many times by my peers about my journey through the Radiologic Science program and if I am happy with the path I’ve chosen.  Without hesitation, I always tell them I would do it all over again in a heart beat.”

The program at Merritt college not only gave me a career, it also prepared me with skills that have helped me throughout my life. It taught me discipline, paying attention to detail, and good time keeping. I wake up every day thanking my stars and also grateful to all the instructors who taught me so well. DeaydraI graduated from the Radiologic Science program at Merritt College in 2009 and things couldn’t be better today! The program itself was challenging, but interesting enough to make it worth the pain. In the first year or so, I gained exposure to the different fields within Radiology and I set my goals: To work in Computed Technology (CT) or Interventional Radiology (IR), and knowing what my goals were kept me focused. It helps that the instructors in the program were techs at one point (and some still are) and can serve as mentors. The courses and especially the clinical setting of the program are focused to help you succeed. So, once I graduated, I landed a career doing what I love. I work in CT, IR and XRAY. Before I found Radiology, I thought I would NEVER love my job. I was simply getting through the day.  The program at Merritt showed me that didn’t have to be true. It’s very hands-on, so I knew that if I liked performing the job “for free,” I’d LOVE it once I could make a career out of it. I can say today, that choosing Merritt and Radiologic Science was life changing, especially in my level of career satisfaction.  ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.'”

Be honest with yourselves, many people give excuses in life as to why they are not able to accomplish goals or go back to school! I recommend to take the challenge, it will provide you with the tools needed for a great field. The program has allowed me to launch into an exciting career I enjoy doing. Like all great things it takes time and hard work! If you are motivated and want a positive change in your life, the radiology program is for you! Stick with it and finish through! In the end you will have accomplished something for yourself and the ability to help others.”
