The Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Merritt College was charted in April 1999. Since that time more than 850 students have accepted membership into this prestigious organization. Phi Theta Kappa’s hallmarks are Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship. Its mission is to recognize students for their outstanding academic achievements and to provide opportunities for service and leadership in their communities and around the globe. Students who accept the invitation to membership receive access to scholarships and other benefits not open to other students in the two-year college. A permanent notation of membership is printed on each student’s college transcript. This notation is recognized by institutions of higher learning throughout the world. For more information about membership email: PTKhonorsociety.mc@peralta.edu or go to the official Phi Theta Kappa website: ptk.org
