Natural History & Sustainability

Founded in 2018, Natural History & Sustainability is an inter-disciplinary program of 14 faculty across 5 departments whose goal is to train students for careers in environmental science, natural resources, and the interface between society and the environment. We offer three credentials, or Certificates of Achievement, in the areas of Urban Agroecology, Conservation & Resource Management, and Natural History & Resources.

Our Mission

“The mission of NHS is to educate students about the biodiversity and natural resources of the Bay Area and beyond in order to create an enlightened community of residents and naturalists. We pledge to do this in an inclusive and equitable way, and we commit to ensuring nature’s long-term future.”
