Spring is Free
Merritt College will pay applicable tuition and fees for eligible students for the Spring 2023 semester. To qualify for Spring is Free, students must be California residents, identify Merritt College as their home school, enroll in courses at Merritt College, and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act application. Six for Six
In addition to free tuition and fees, students who register for at least six units of coursework at Merritt will receive:

- Free career assessment
- Free Chromebook loan
- Free WiFi hotspot loan

What fees are covered by Spring is Free?
Spring is Free pays for your:
- Course enrollment fee ($46 per unit)
- Health fee ($18)
- Student campus use fee ($2)
- Student representation fee ($2)
- AC Transit EasyPass fee ($42.88)
What are the requirement for Spring is Free?
You must:
- Be a California resident.
- Enrolled in courses at Merritt.
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application.
- Identify Merritt as your home school.
Am I eligible for Spring is Free if I don’t qualify for financial aid?
Yes. Although you must apply for financial aid to participate in Spring is Free, you do not need to actually qualify to receive financial aid. You can take advantage of Spring is Free regardless of your academic standing or income level.
How do I apply for Spring is Free?
You do not need to apply for Spring is Free. If you meet the requirements, your tuition and fees will be waived.

What is Six for Six?
Six for Six is an extra assistance program in addition to Spring is Free. If you qualify for Six for Six, you will receive:
