Each year, National Hispanic Heritage Month (also recognized as Latinx Heritage Month) is observed from September 15 to October 15. Celebrations recognize the contributions of our Latinx Communities, which includes those whose ancestors came from South America, Central America, Mexico, Spain, and the Caribbean.
The beginning of this Heritage Month is especially important to those whose relatives are from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. Latin American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua) independence day is September 15. Mexico’s Independence Day is September 16, 2021. Chile’s Independence Day is September 18, 2021. For more information regarding Merritt’s Latinx Heritage Month Celebrations click here www.merritt.edu/student-life/events/
