Services:  

 

FREE, short-term, confidential mental health counseling for individuals, couples & families
Social service casework/resources and referrals
Psychoeducation workshops and/or support groups
Crisis intervention

Students currently enrolled at Merritt College
Age range: 17 – 70+
Ethnic ID: 30% Latinx, 28% African American, 17% Asian/Pacific
Islander, 10% White, 8% Arab/Persian/Middle Eastern, 5%
Multiethnic, 2% South Asian/Indian
Gender ID: 56% female, 41% male, 3% nonbinary
We have significant numbers of formerly incarcerated students, students in recovery from addiction, and first-generation college students. Many works multiple jobs and struggle to balance school with family/caregiving responsibilities.

Depression and grief
Suicidality and trauma
Physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse
Poverty, hunger, unstable housing
Intimate partner violence
Human trafficking
Police/community violence, incarceration
Daily stress of racism
Relationship issues
Academic stress
Addiction
Supervisor:  Stefani de Vito, LCSW (she/her), in practice since 1999
One hour of individual clinical supervision weekly
Weekly 2-hour combined group supervision (interns from MFT, LPCC, MSW programs)
Calendar: Orientation/training:       August 15 & 16, 2023
Fall Semester:                     8/21/23 – 12/15/23
Spring Semester:               1/22/24 – 05/24/24
Fridays are work from home: virtual counseling only.
Wednesdays 9:00-11:00 am: group supervision
Stipend: $5000 – $6000 per academic year
Contingent upon satisfactory completion of 16-24 internship hours weekly
