Job Description

Chabot Space & Science Center is embarking on an exciting new partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland, to run after school science workshops for 6-12 year old youth. We’re looking for Merritt College students to support in the facilitation of these workshops in the fall of 2018.

Internship Details
• 8 week commitment in fall 2018 from October – November
• ~4 hours per week
• $550 stipend
• Support in the facilitation of hands-on, 60 minute after school STEM workshops
• Workshop themes include: Creative Coding, Kitchen Chemistry, Circuit Science, Spectacular Space, and Engineering Explorations
• Qualifications
o Interest in STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
o Enthusiasm for and/or experience working with children
o Excellent interpersonal skills
o Strong organizational skills
o Ability to work successfully on a team
o Ability to travel to Boys & Girls Clubs in East, Central East, and West Oakland
o Availability Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu during after school hours 3:30pm – 6:15pm
