Job Description
Position Summary
The role of the Enrichment Instructor, under the supervision of the Coordinator of Extended Day and Enrichment Programs, will be to create and facilitate academically rigorous, engaging, culturally relevant curriculum. The Enrichment Program operates from 2 PM to 7 PM. It is composed of two key segments; academic support and enrichment. The purpose of the program is to support students in improving their ability to: think critically and creatively; achieve proficiency in core academic skills; communicate confidently; work both independently and collaboratively; engage as responsible citizens; apply their knowledge to solve real world problems.
Responsibilities:
– Support students with homework and academic tutoring
– Collaborate with core teachers and the Associate Director of Enrichment to create and facilitate curriculum that compliments core course content
– Monitor and document students’ academic progress, and advocate for students’ learning needs
– Supervise students as they transition between classes, and during snack and dismissal
– Document student behavior consistently, including sending discipline referrals to an appropriate Dean of Students when necessary
– Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy educational environment
– Maintain prompt and accurate student attendance records using Power School
– Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly staff meetings
Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:
– Plan and organize lessons, manage time effectively and organize materials
– Manage both large and small groups of students between the ages of 10 and 18
– Resolve conflicts and motivate students to complete assignments
– Provide students with academic support, assisting with homework and projects
– Attend consistently between the hours of 3 PM and 7 PM Monday through Thursday, and as needed between 2PM and 7 PM on Fridays
Qualifications
Experience
– Minimum 1 year of working with groups of 20 or more ethnically and socioeconomically diverse students in a classroom, or after school setting
Skills
– Communicate effectively and professionally with both staff and students
– Ability to work collaboratively and independently
-Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments with limited supervision
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerSchool, and other applicable computer software
– Ability to analyze facts quickly, and make sound recommendations for student conflict and during instruction
Education
– Current college students are encouraged to apply
– College GPA of 3.0 or higher
Preferred
– Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred
