About Su Yun’s Chinese Learning Center
We are a new school-age after-school Chinese Learning Center opening in Albany in early 2018. Our mission is to provide high-quality after-school care in a Chinese language setting focused on teaching children Mandarin and the Chinese heritage and culture as well as furthering their learning of STEAM-related subjects. The owners are Albany residents with children in the local schools and we strive to bring a positive impact to our local community as well as provide an enriching environment for children to learn the Chinese language and culture.

About You
As a Teacher’s Aide at Su Yun’s Chinese Learning Center, your role will be essential to the everyday success of the center. Serving as a support system to each other, you will take initiative, offer creative solutions, and assist in efficient and timely execution of all daily activities and procedures. When working as a team to achieve goals you will be emphatic, flexible and task-oriented. However, you will also seize opportunities to demonstrate your individuality through taking leadership of your group, planning captivating activities, and proactively communicating concerns to the Director.
The Teacher’s Aide will see his or herself as a valuable member of Su Yun’s Chinese Learning Center, eager to join this ground-up new horizon. This person will report to the Director of Education.
Essential Duties
Being highly alert, focused and taking proactive, preventative measures to keep all students safe
Maintaining positive student relationships
Supporting and upholding classroom management procedures for all activities and transitions
Using classroom management strategies such as attention getters, proximity and directness, and positive reinforcement
Active participant in group, staff and professional development meetings, contributing ideas to the Center
Taking initiative to complete tasks such as, but not limited to, organizing, cleaning, and storing of classroom and supplies
Proactively noticing and communicating concerns to appropriate colleagues

Day-to-Day Requirements:
Demonstrating maturity when dealing with children and sensitive issues
Being organized, task-oriented and meeting deadlines
Skills in time management and being punctual
Flexibility and capability to “think on their feet” to find problem solutions
Being motivated and interested in investing time and effort to grow with the center
Has a sense of humor

Academic and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Teaching language, arts, or music to K5 in the US for more than 2 years.
Experiences in curriculum design, creative writing, drama or arts & crafts highly preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age
High level of fluency in Mandarin and English
Ability to interact effectively at school-age and cross-cultural levels
Ability to be an effective member of project teams
Commitment to cross-cultural, multi-lingual education and sensitivity to community needs
