Job Description

We are looking for a caring angel with a cheerful heart to provide support for a happy and bubbly three year old diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (quadriplegic).

The hours are part time: Tuesday – Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm or 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Your role as a Special Needs Assistant:

You will help the child be part of an existing afterschool program by implementing the inclusion plan developed by his/her case manager, the childcare site and parental input.

Assist and encourage the child to be part of the site program – modifying activities as needed while celebrating accomplishments large and small.

Help the child with any physical or hands-on assistance such as meals or snacks, lifting, transferring, bathroom assistance and wheelchair maneuvering.

Suggest and implement any changes.

Develop open and professional communication between all parties: childcare site, parents and family members.

Act as an advocate for the child as well as teach the child to advocate for him or herself as age appropriate in the site setting.

Check the childcare site is in ADA compliance on a quarterly basis and bring any concerns to the site director’s attention.

Complete all required reports: time-sheets and incident reports. Represent UCPGG to the community and external groups in a professional manner.
