Job Description
The City of Emeryville/MESA Community Services Department is currently accepting application for qualified ECE teachers to establish and applicant pool for substitute teachers at the Emeryville Child Development Center.
Substitute Teacher position:
You will be working with all ages from 4 months -5 years old. Interested applicants must have at least 6 ECE units and one-year relevant experience. Must be flexible, fun and able to facilitate play with young children and thrive in working in an open, dynamic classroom context. Substitutes work alongside teachers who are skilled in creating responsive curriculum. Applicants should have experience with working in team teaching environments, have strong communication skills, and be able to multitask and remain responsive to children. This position is an on call, as needed position with hours that vary from 0-40 per week.
Responsibilities include:
Providing an engaging, safe and caring learning environment for children in our infant toddler and preschool programs; creating strong relationships based in respect and curiosity with children; clear communication with teachers, directors, and children. Responding in a timely way to requests to cover shifts and reliable, on time professionalism.
Qualifications sought:
We are looking for applicants with experience with young children. Applicants should be aligned with a play-based, child centered philosophy of working with young children and have flexibility in their schedules to allow for availability to substitute.
