Join Puente on March 25 to Celebrate Women’s History with Inspirational Speakers
Puente will present three motivational speakers to honor and celebrate Women’s History Month on Wednesday, March 25, from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Lounge. Come and hear Carla Trujillo, Mariela Salcedo, and Danise Davis as they present inspirational messages on women’s lives.

Spoken Word — Poetry by Bay Area Students Student Speakers: Mariela Salcedo (Class of 2014) & Denise Davis (Class of 2016) Keynote Speaker: Carla Trujillo, Author and UC Berkeley Dean of Graduate Diversity Programs

Mariela Salcedo is a Merritt College-Puente Alum (2014). She transferred to UC Davis last fall (2014) and is majoring in biology. Students who are interested in the medical field should not miss this presentation!
Denise Davis, a current Merritt student who is legally blind, will share her inspirational journey and talk about what she does to manage stress and stay balanced.
Chicana author, Carla Trujillo is a Dean of Graduate Diversity Programs at UC Berkeley. Ms. Trujillo has dedicated her career to advocating for Students of Color in higher education. She is also the author of a published novel, What Night Brings, a story about the rites of passage of a young Chicana growing up in San Leandro, CA. Trujillo has worked closely with the LGBT student community in the Bay Area.
