Library Highlights Extensive Local History Collection

The Library is currently highlighting its comprehensive collection of local history books, many which have been gathered together in a display on the main floor. Along with a comprehensive series of books that includes many topics including the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Black Artists in Oakland, there are books on several dozen California cities, from Albany to Vacaville, which include fascinating old photos. Other interesting books on display include everything from the Free Speech Movement of Berkeley in the ’60s and the History of Alameda County to Oakland 1852-1938 and San Francisco Art Deco. The display will be up all summer and the books can be borrowed for three weeks. Check them out!
