Jan. 14-16 Flex Days at District and Merritt Focus on Equity

MERRITTpms-TiWith the theme of equity running through the three days of professional training, the  January Flex Days will welcome popular speaker Kevin Powell on Wednesday, January 14 at Laney College, to kick off the three-day professional training with a keynote speech on “Equality in America: Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, and The Ghost of Dr. King.” The rest of the day’s events at Laney College, including the State of the District Address by Chancellor Jose Ortiz, are listed  here.

Merritt’s Flex Days on January 15 and 16 will focus on “Equity: Better Together.” An opening State of the College message from President Norma Ambriz-Galaviz will be followed by a College Community Conversation on equity with discussion on the college’s new Equity Plan and Student Success and Support Program. Other highlights include a “National Equity Project” session on Thursday, January 15, facilitated by guest speakers Lisa M. Lasky and Victory Cary, and the “E-3: Education, Excellence & Equity” session facilitated by JuanCarlos Arauz. (See all of their bios here.) The two-day schedule can be viewed here.
