(See Video) Governor Brown Speaks on Campus About California’s Ex-Offenders Workforce
(SEE VIDEO HERE) Governor Gerry Brown was the keynote speaker on campus Friday morning as part of the Bay Area Employer Forum 2015 presented by the California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA). The state-operated agency provides productive work assignments for approximately 8,000 offenders annually in California’s adult and juvenile correctional institutions (calpia.ca.gov). Executives from the agency and from the County of Alameda, the Oakland Workforce Investment Board, and other agencies also spoke. Congresswoman Barbara Lee was in attendance along with about 100 other participants.
