Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human anatomy, physiological, biomechanics, and human performance. Merritt offers a wide variety of classes that can lead to exciting careers including:

  • Athletic training
  • Physical therapy
  • Sports Performance (i.e Strength and Conditioning, coaching)
  • Research for medical, education, and military.
  • Physical Education
  • Personal Training
  • Fitness Industry Managment

Kinesiology (KIN) classes are offered in the categories of Fitness Center and Recreational Activity as well as classes leading to the  Personal Training Certificate.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center is a state-of-the-art gym with new equipment including exercise machines, cardio equipment, free weights and more. Below are the courses offered in the Fitness Center.

All activity courses are grouped by similar content. Courses in each grouping may only be taken once with a passing grade. Please note that many activity courses are offered with varying skill levels. Students should enroll in an activity class which is most appropriate for their skill level.

Personal Training Certificate

Personal Trainers lead, instruct and motivate individuals and groups in exercise activities. They make their own work schedules and work with people of all ages and skill levels. It is the fastest growing occupation in the nation.  Enroll in the Personal Training Certificate program for an exciting career in the fitness industry.
