The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORK’s) program at Merritt College encourages personal responsibility and accountability. It is committed to help TANF recipients’ receive an education and training which will provide employment opportunities.  CalWORK’s promotes short-term training, as well as life-long learning.  The ultimate goal of the program is to assist CalWORK’s students with vocational /education training programs, which will lead to a life of self-sufficiency.

Merritt College CalWORK’s Program works in collaboration with neighboring county social services department s for the purpose of helping families with dependent children to transition from receiving public assistance to become self-sufficient in the workforce.  Merritt College CalWORK’s department strives to provide a positive environment where students who are part of the county’s CalWORK’s program can seek support.
