Our special support programs are CalWORKS and EOPS/CARE for students with children or those who meet other eligibility criteria of these programs, the CAFYES office for current or previous foster youth, and the Disability Services Program which provides support to students with learning and/or physical disabilities.

Learning Communities have been established for all students as an additional and unique way to learn. A few of our learning communities include Puente, Sankofa (Umoja), and First-Year Experience (FYE). Also summer bridge programs, such as Adelante, Math Jam, Bridge to Healthcare Careers, and our Administration of Justice’s “CSI Merritt” help our students and community youth by offering new, fun, and interesting ways to meet their goals.

As Merritt College recognizes the importance of the community that supports us, we have formed partnerships with organizations to create fantastic “win-win” programs serving the college and the community. From the Oakland Unified School District and the Oakland Police Department to the Alameda Allied Health Systems and The Unity Council, we are working together to benefit the entire community.

Student success, equity, and social justice are Merritt College priorities. No matter who you are or what neighborhood or nation you come from, you are welcome and will be supported here. So come join the thousands of students who are fulfilling their dreams and goals because, as we say at Merritt College—We Change Lives!
