Dr. Jeffrey Lamb was appointed as Vice President of Instruction at Merritt College, effective in May 2, 2016. Prior to that, he was the Dean of the School of English and Foreign Languages at City College of San Francisco and because of this is familiar with building consensus and keeping the diverse needs of students at the core of decision-making in a large, complex, urban college.  He has a strong background in outcomes assessment, integrated planning, accreditation, enrollment management, and curriculum.


Before CCSF, he was the Interim Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and the Dean of Academic Success and Learning Resources at Solano Community College in Fairfield, California.  In these two roles he oversaw CTE, Basic Skills, and Transfer programs in a variety of departments, the Tutoring Center, English Lab, Curriculum Office, Distance Education, Library, and Theater Operations. Additionally, he has over 18 years of experience as faculty teaching Spanish at public, private, and international institutions and led several study abroad groups.


As faculty, he served as Academic Senate President, Vice President, on the ASCCC Professional Development Committee, and as the Teaching and Learning Center Coordinator.  His experiences as Accreditation Liaison Officer at Solano College and service on two Accreditation Visiting Teams will serve Merritt College well.


Dr. Lamb holds a doctorate in 20th Century Latin American Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s degree in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from San Diego State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach.  He has lived in Spain and Mexico (where his met his wife, Teresa) studying language, culture, and literature.
