Merritt Community Attends Spring Flex Day, “Learning from Within”

The Professional Development Committee, chaired by Tom Renbarger, presented an excellent day of  FLEX Day activities on January 18 with the theme “Learning from Within.” After a continental breakfast in R-110, the morning continued with President Marie-Elain Burns giving a PowerPoint update of all the great things happening at Merritt.

The rest of the morning was filled with important topics including Title IX, Guided Pathways, the Learning Center, and the newly renamed Student Accessibility Services (formerly Disabled Services Program). Isela Gonzalez Santana introduced some of her staff and tutors from the Learning Center and showed slides on what is new at the Center and Frances Moy and Ron Nelson presented a panel of students who talked about their experiences in the classroom and the help they get from Student Accessbility Services.

fter a delicious lunch, the Division met, followed by workshops on CurricUNET Meta training, preparing for a job interview, curriculum information for new chairs, setting up CANVAS shell, and new faculty orientation.
