Debra Jacks Celebrates Retirement by Partying With Friends and Family

(SEE PHOTOS) Over the 36 years Debra Jacks worked at Merritt College, she made many close friends. And on Thursday night, at a great party organized by Margie Rubio and Audrey Trotter at Lungomare in Jack London Square,  it seemed like every one of them showed up. More than 80 faculty, staff, and students, family members and special guests joined the party, from Retired District Chancellor Donald Godbold, who hired Debra in 1979, to her beloved 94-year-old father who sat at the bar and waved as Debra gave a tribute to him. Lots of speeches, laughter, and tears filled the room to honor Debra. But mostly sighs of relief to know that she will be back in the not-too-distant future to continue part-time working her magic at Merritt.
