ASMC To Kick Off Hispanic Heritage Month with Focus on DACA Support

With alarming news from Washington, DC regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the kick-off event to National Hispanic Heritage Month will focus on support of our DACA students, sponsored by ASMC. The event, “Keep the Dream Alive,” will be held on Monday, September 18, from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Student Lounge. Among other guests, the keynote speaker will be Oakland’s own Dr. Cesar Cruz, Educator, Author, Activist, and Co-Founder of Homies Empowerment in Oakland. There will also be food and music to celebrate the month.

Faculty are being asked to bring your classes to the event, and faculty, staff and administrators are encouraged to attend and become  well informed and engaged on this matter.
