Bargaining Unit: Deputy Sheriff’s Non-Sworn Rank & File Unit
The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is recruiting to fill Sheriff’s Ranger vacancies. This is an excellent employment opportunity for individuals interested in beginning a law enforcement career. Individuals appointed to these positions are responsible for providing non-sworn facility security in designated buildings, health clinics, and courthouses throughout Contra Costa County. Sheriff’s Rangers are non-sworn personnel reporting to sworn personnel.
Typical tasks performed by Sheriff’s Rangers include identifying and reporting problems; assisting the public by providing directions and answering questions, monitoring electronic screening devices; provide support to courtroom clerks and act as a courtroom liaison between the judicial officers and jurors, witnesses, attorneys and other court units outside agencies and the public.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, as the incumbent will interface with staff at all levels, as well as county officials and members of the public
