In an effort to reduce Merritt College’s default rate and as part of the college’s cohort default prevention plan, all new direct loan applicants will be required to attend one mandatory Direct Loan Workshop, reports Financial Aid Supervisor Ernesto Nery.  Colleges with high cohort default rates can lose eligibility for federal student aid programs that include the Pell Grant and Direct Loan Programs.

In addition, as a way to assist with student success, completion of educational goals, and provide additional support to students that have not met the college’s established satisfactory academic progress, all students requesting to submit a Financial Aid Appeal Form will be required to attend a mandatory Satisfactory Academic Progress Workshop.  Your appeal will not be considered if you do not attend.

The workshops will start February 10. See below for a complete schedule (click once to enlarge).
