Ability Counts Home

Who are we?

We are the Number  One student club at Merritt College, and we focus on issues related to Disability The club is run by Donald Reed, our president and other students and community members with him. Our goals are to educate others about disability, our rights, responsibilities, and laws while demonstrating our abilities. This is a very diverse group of honor students, athletes, singers, preachers, etc, and we are all willing to contribute our time to advocate for Disability Rights and Services.

Ability Counts is a disability awareness and advocacy club that welcomes everybody with or without a disability. It can be enlightening for those who want to help advocate for individuals with disabilities or for those who have children or other family members with disabilities.

Come join us! We meet two (2) times a  month on the 1st and 3rd Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is always served We have arranged speakers to come present on various topics, held book and bake sales, provided food for needy students and provided a place where you can have your voice hear. Perhaps someone would want to start a newsletter to advertise the accomplishments of our DSP students. Perhaps you have solutions to issues we face. Come join us and share your talents.

And remember, your disability doesn’t define you! It helps you to reveal your abilities!
