TAKE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES 1!
Biological Sciences 1 is an "Introduction to microscopy" course that includes hands-on training on our new digital imaging systems. You will get a broad introduction to a variety of microscopy techniques and careers, plus lab experience with digital fluorescence microscopy. WHAT? Specialized training in the use of high end microscopes! WHEN? The first Bioscience Microscopy Certificate program is already underway! It consists of night/weekend courses for 2 semesters, plus a summer internship. Our students are training to operate a variety of microsopes, including a confocal microscope. WHY? You love images, working with your hands, discovery, and a well-paying job with great advancement potential and job satisfaction. WHOM? You! This field is especially suited to you if you are curious, organized, hard working, patient, resourceful, you have decent manual dexerity, enjoy computers and high tech equipment, and you love images. HOW? Sign up for bioscience 1, "Introduction to Microscopy." It will allow you to explore the type of work and career options in this field. If you decide to pursue the Certificate, there will be an application process later in the semester. If you don't have a science background, it is recommended that you take bio 1A (or bio 10). Other relevant skills and courses include: expository writing, computer science, physics, chemistry, algebra. All of the courses for the certificate will be held at night and on weekends.
